A storied franchise immersed in decades of winning tradition. No, not the Lions you silly gooses its the Detroit Pistons. I only realized what luck the Detroit metropolitan area has experienced throughout the years, as I watched the Pistons loose to the Houston Rockets by three. (With Houston going 3 of 18 from the free throw line.) But in the loosing effort, I saw what a solid team the Pistons have no matter win or loose. The starting line up is completed with veterans and when they tire, a young bench comes to their aid, with an explosion of tenacity. Another thing that I like about the Pistons is that they are not embarrassed from where they come from. Detroit, the murder capital of the world, drug-riddled, and a declining population. Oh wait, the Pistons play in Auburn Hills, that explains Ron Artest actions in 2004, cause I think if it was in Detroit he wouldn't of wanted to jump into those stands so fast. But, back to the line up, I think a twenty second clip can basically sum up our attitude:
And just look at Rip Hamilton. I mean theirs are starting line up before the game, which I might add that free styling is a very good warm up idea for the team. Now to the bench, where my two favorite players start the game, only to come off and play the rest of the game. Which two? Jason Maxiell and "THE" Amir Johnson. Quick bios on them. Maxiell is going into his third year and is a massive clean-up rebounder. On the other hand, the straight-outta-high school draft pick of Amir Johnson, is showing us that he has so much talent in him, that he could actually make everyone around him better when he plays, through some sort of magical transfer. Also leading the D-League in points per game last year and something like that this summer in the Las Vegas league. Oh yeah he's 20 and deserves way more playing time then he is getting, though it has improved. Point and case:
Even though Darko and Maurice Evans are in it, which means its old, that was my favorite clip of Amir, but there are way better and newer ones that I just can't seem to find. One last thought from me: Amir Johnson is a future all-star, and will be destroying the league in a couple of years. Anyone who doesn't know who he is will soon find out.
P.S. Aaron Affalo, you leave me speechless sometimes.
